my frogspawn's tentacles don't come out anymore??? When i first got it, it was real nice then the tentacles stopped coming out. I added a stronger light (from 40 watt to 130 watt)to my tank and the tentacles came out again. The other day i noticed it was laying on its side due to one of my fish knocking it over. Now the tentacles dont come out anymore. Its been about a week now. Any advice???

First, I would glue it down so it doesn't get knocked over again. Do you know how long it had been laying on the sand? What are your water parameters?

How big is your tank and what kind of water flow do you have?
I have a 20 Long with the Penguin Bio Wheel filters 200gph thats about all i have for flow. But that's what i had before and it was looking real nice!!

Mine was quite shy when in high flow, it would not come out at all. I moved it to a lower flow and it is out all the way.

I would try to get your nitrates down. 20 is too high for a reef, IMO. If you have a phos reading of .5, you may actually have a higher phosphate content than your test result shows. This reading is what is present in your water after uptake by algaes, etc. Also, the test does not read both organic and inorganic phosphates. I would add a phosphate magnet and try to keep the phos reading as close to nonexistent as possible. High trates and phosphates can impede growth and polyp extension. My hammer doesn't like much flow either. Moving your frogspawn to a lower flow area is prolly a good idea.

I run a two little fishies phos ban reactor with phos ban media in it, works better that way than in a bag- more surface area of the phos ban comes in contact with the water, for nitrates water changes more frequent/heavier.

PhosBan or ROWA-phos
Google "phosphate and the reef aquarium by Randy Holmes Farley" to learn more about phosphate.

Export.
1. water changes
2. cultivate macroalgae such as chaetomorpha or caulerpa
3. skim, skim, skim
Google "nitrates in marine aquarium systems" and look for an article by Bob Fenner. I just searched for you and you are looking for the title "NitratesMar."
Don't overfeed and rinse frozen foods. Use RO water and be religious with your water changes.
