Hey guys maybe you can help me out. Im new to the reef tank so I am still learning what things are. I bought this new coral at my lfs. He said it was a frogspawn. But the only info I can find on frogspawn is branching frogspawn, and this one is definately not branching. It wont fully open, its only been 2 days. Any Ideas about placement? Thanks :notsure:

med flow, good lighting, excellent water quality should do the trick.
How long has your tank been setup? Are all the water parameter's good?

tank has been up for about 1 year. We have 2 MH and 2 blue atenic lights. Good water quality and lots of flow in the tank

That's the way that some Frogspawn look. IMO, they're a little touchier than the branching type. I had both, the scrolling one did not make it.

No not a brain. Hopefully mine makes it. When the lights come on today I will take another pic. Hopefully it looks better today. Just did a test and nitrates are a little high  Just did a 30% water change so... I dunno.

Hey does anyone know where I can get some info on this "curvy" type of spawn? I would hate to lose it because we didnt have in the right place.

It's just closed up. I have one and it's been doing very well for over half a year. It took awhile to acclimate, but only a day. After the day was up it came out in full but it oozed white stuff which I still do not fully understand. I heard the white stuff was a sort of mucus that certain corals use to catch floating plankton in the water. Goodluck.

Moderate flow..just enough to make the tentacles sway.As far as how high to place it,depends on your lighting..what type do you have? Also, feed it or let a little food drop on it every once in awhile.Cycop-eeze and zooplankton is a favorite of corals.

I have 2 14 k MH, and 2 blue atinics, it is in a med flow spot now, on a rock, I wondered if sand would be better?

I have mine high in the rockwork under 192W PC. My new tank has 2x250MH and 192W PC. Sand or rock really doesn't matter in this case. Does the tissue look like it's receeding at all?

no it looks great, very healthy. It just will not open. Maybe today. It comes out a little bit, but goes back in. Maybe I am just impatient. I will take a new pick today and post it when the lights come on.
