OK making a simple box style canopy for my 20 gallon. Measure everything including endcaps .... but somehow the lid needs about another 1/8 of an inch for it to shut .... forgot that the wirse and such would be running ... I am frustrated and don't know what to do :( any suggestions? I have a cut off wheel and I am thinkign I am going to shave down the inside of the canopy until it will close and leave some space for air movement ... is this wise??
OK calling it a night !! ARGHHHH

By shaving..you are referring to thinning a side out? If so...I wouldnt think there to be a problem with that as long as the continuity remains...

Just make sure tp leave enough for support and appearance...taking like 3/4 stock down to 3/8 for something like this should be fine.

Is this for a 20H? If so, i have some detailed plans that can be easlily modified to your personal aesthetics. Its a simple box canopy that opens from the top. Heres a pic, if you want the plans, email me
