Fug Lighting Questions

I have been running a 15 gal refugium for my 55 reef for some time, but am always unsure of how long to keep the lighting on for the fug. Should I be keeping the light on a timer similuar to my dysplay tank? or on 24/7 to promote macro algae growth? Any other points related would be wonderful to get.

i have about a 20gal fuge on my 55 and i just put my fuge on the same timer as my DT.. i heard if you leave it on 24/7 it can hurt the macro but i could be wrong

Actually the algae needs light--dark cycles..
I run mine for about 8-10 hours a day.

mines on after the DT light go off, so DT 12 hours on during the day, then fuge on 12 hours at night.
