ive had my fuge running under a 24" strip light for the last 2 months... ive been getting some growth but nothing great, lets put it this way im not getting any die off. well i just want to know what everyone else is using as far as wattage and fixtures on their fuges. im thinking about using one of those silver dome shop lights that they sell at lowes. they have many different sizes. i guess ill try it out to see if i get some better growth than what ive got now. as always suggestions and comments are always welcome!!!

I can't tell you the wattage of my dome style lights, they were purchased for me. But I can tell you we switched out from the 30 inch strip to (2) aluminum dome type clip on w/ the spiral looking bulbs and had almost immediate results. our refugium is a 30 gal.

The bulb I use is one I got from Wally World. It a Lights of America brand.Model#2830S
Compact Flourescent Sunlight Bulb. The UPC # 7 55277 28301 3
I've been using it for about a year and my macro algae (cheato) grows like wild fire.

I put it in a clip-on reflector from the hardware store. Very little amount of heat. I'm not saying it doesn't get hot but it isn't a concern. On the package it reads 135W replacement and 30Wuses only. It's rated at 6500k. I bought several for around $10 ea.
I snapped a quick pic of the packaging.
