Fuge question

I have a fuge that is working very well, but I am wondering how to thin out the macro algae, and possibly free some of the pods within the algae to the main tank. Should I simply cut a out large portion, and put in into the main tank for a few hours to release the pods, then throw the remander away? I’m sure that my Mandarin would like to see some new pods.

Depending on what type of macro, I wouldnt put it in my main tank. Calupera can be very hard to get out of live rock. I would cut out a portion and shake it over the sump return to the main tank.
