thanks every one!
squishy i havent had any probs with the lion or pink tail trigger....
the lion ate 2 smaller fish in the beggining cuz i didnt feed him enough so now i make sure to feed him seperately.... the PTT is a pig! he eats so much....
i dont have any shrimps or crabs other then the ones in my acros and they dont bother anything and i also have some very small lyertail anthias they leave alone
i think key is adding them last and feeding them enough
other safe triggers include but each one is its own case....
blue throat trigger
pink tail trigger
crosshatch trigger
niger trigger

murph do ever have issues with your lights penetrating through your acros.. meaning... do you have some color lose deep into the corals base or bottom? just by the picture it seems you have alot of shadowing on the corals. when i have that i loose the color.. then again i have 10k lighting and see a different perspective. i don't know i did just change to 14k usishio. like it so far but one was busted so am only running it on half the tank. i think this 30in. tall crap is killing me. i'm too paranoid.
your tank is freakin sweet nice work..

hey lubeck... as far as lighting goes.... the bigger a coral gets the more shawdoweed it gets along its underside... i notice in those areas the coral usually loses color and turns more to a brown color then as brightly colored as the tips are...
but all in all its not that big of a deal in my tank....
a 30" talll tank is a different story but even so u should be fine keepin acros and such in 250's obviously keep the more light demanding ones up higher and the less light demanding ones a lil lower
clams might wanna be in the rock work....
only thing i notice is some colors lose there intensity ... especially wild caught corals since the aquarium can never duplicate there exact lighting they came from many times the extreme colors fade away and some of the corals turns to a browner shade....
i personally like the look of a 14k or 20k bulb over 10k's plus acitinics but i hear the growth is slower in the higher K bulbs even so under my Phoenix's growth has been quite impressive
whats ur corals been doing i know u have had some issues lately

i had to move my puprle catspaw because it was getting too much light on the one side and started bleaching.. when i moved it though it had grown literally an 1" and has sprouted 4 new tiny heads sprouting off.. yeah.... however like you were saying i have some problems with the large acro still and am just trying to figure out the right light and flow for the corals. i am really hoping that the 14ks help with polyp extension and color... i have a feeling the lighting has alot to do with the colors of the corals. i hope the marine depot will send me my new bulb without hassle it kinda looks funny. i posted a pick in the photo threads.

heres a few closer ups on some acros even thought some of the base areas are more shaded they still hold some color and are very healthy... i dont think lights guna get every part of the coral in any tank

what kind of lighting do u have right now??
or did u have before??
whats ur photo period??
i dont see how a cats paw would bleach from 250's at one of the LFS's they have 400W 20K's over there tank and some corals are like 1" below the waters surface and the lights are maybe 6-8" from that

i know its weird that it still has polyps where its white but i have been checking everyday i can. i wonder if its going to sprout out a huge branch or something. that would be cool.
i kinda wanta know whats up with the paw though. it seems to be really healthy since it has all the branches starting to sprout.
all parameters are good... just checked them last night. didn't check mag or phos though. the tropic marin pro reef usually shows around 1100-1200 . i just did a water change today to. alk was 9.2 cal was 415
i do have the shields on the lights not on my pc acntics though.
sorry about hijacking your thread
