I was planning on starting a new nano again been out of the hobby for about a year now and i am kinda torn between getting a nano cube or just going with a normal all glass tank. Anyways i was kinda wondering what you guys thought pros/cons of either way. i am kinda leaning towards a normal glass tank cause i figure it would be easier to add a sump and to customize the lighting but still would really appriciate some imput

Hey! If your one to customize your tank with extra lights, sumps, etc. Then i would go with the all glass ( That is if your willing to pay a liltle extra ) I have a biocube and it works fantastic but i would like to have the option of changing lighting, filter, etc.

I started a 29 biocube in January of 2007. I have made a lot of modifications to it. I love the tank now, but if I were to do it over I would start with a standard glass tank and customize it to what I wanted. In the long run it would be less expensive. If you don't want a separate sump there are many builds where people have created in tank sumps with some acrylic work. That is how I would go even with a large tank. Everything self contained.

IMHO the best you can go with is the Finnex 30g tank. they come with either t5 or the HQI and t5 combo
here some info:
5mm temper glass
Square corner. The open top design gives sufficient air ventilation to reduce heat buildup
5/16" Cell-Cast acrylic background
Skimmer: Venturi driven skimmer rated 60 gallon with a 211 gph rated pump. The overflow style of skimmer chamber ensures a constant water level to keep stable skimming performance
Wet/Dry filter: Includes filter tray and media drop in chamber (filtration media not included). Top loaded tray makes catching and removing the debris easy
Powder coated corrosion resistant aluminum hood
Three independent power cord for lighting
Phoenix 14,000k bulb
The elevated design gives an appropriate depth for successful refugium setup
Water return pipe and pump: Utilize the "T" connection pipe to split the water return to the refugium and to the main tank. So, only one 475 gph pump can circulate the entire tank
Adjustable water flow fits various refugium setting
Direct water flow from the refugium to the main tank let the food resource growing in the refugium lively get into the main tank
Center located refugium with 13W power compact lighting fixture

i dunno half the fun of it for me is building the tank. That and there are a few things i was gonna customize for my particular stand and stuff its either gonna be a 30g with built in overflow and a 10g sump or a 20g main tank.
That and if i go with the 20g tank i would probly be making a mh fixture
