Fumes and waterchange

It is time to do my weekly waterchange. Last night, my wife woke me and said she smelled fumes coming from the room in which my RODI water is located. Upon inspection, a can of auto undercoat exploded (whiched caused the fumes). The fumes are still unbelievably bad. The can was located under the RODI container. I am sure that there was no direct contact to the chemicals. I have mixed up the water for the change but now am wondering if I should just dump the water and put the waterchange off another week. I am leaving town tomorrow, so next waterchange will be next weekend. Do you think that the fumes could contaminate the water?
Thanks,
Jeremy

Aren't fumes a form of chemical that your noise interprets. Some are man-made and most are natural.
Maybe 20gallons of water (or what ever) cost you a few bucks in salt, but how much does all your livestock coast??? That is how I would like of it.

I think AREIJIN made a very good point--what would you rather lose, a few dollars worth of salt or thousands worth of livestock, some of which you may not even be able to put a price on? Just knowing that you have an RO/DI system makes me think that your tank is extremely well-established and probably has come a long way since you started. I wouldn't want to go back to the beginning, and I'm sure you wouldn't, either.
Maybe you can get some good use of the contaminated water by pouring it on your nosy neighbor's lawn. Errr....
