So Im a paintball ref at SC Village
Yesterday I was working in Chrono (for those of you who dont play paintball its a station where you test how fast the paintball is firing to make sure it is in safe limits of 285 fps)
So we have to chrono every players gun in the entire park in the morning and again at lunch
there is bound to be one mistake
Some of the guns players use have super sensitive triggers
I had one of these guns yesterday
I put the barrel plug back on and hand it back to the player
My finger slips and accidentaly hit the trigger
It goes off two times
the first ball blew off the barrel bag
and the second hit another player
Complete accident all happend it like 2 seconds
The guy that got hit is mad
I say Im so sorry and continue doing my job
The guy goes to management and complains
According to one of my friends who was there when he was complaing this is what he said
"I dont mean to be an ***hole but one of your refs just shot me down at chrono"
It was an accident if he didnt want to be an ***hole then why did he complain?
So one of the head refs comes down to chrono and gets mad at us and says how we're are slipping and arent doing our jobs right and how he should send us all home.
It was a simple mistake
What do you guys think?

I think you should be more careful. Sorry if its not what you want to hear but its what I think.
At a paintball range the guy was probably overreacting but your there as a saftey ref. Last thing you should do is shoot someone with thier own gun. Not the end of the world but it is purely your fault.
Accidents don't happen, carelessness does

(not trying to come off mean here)
Yes accidents do happen
Handle a gun where the trigger will go off with a glance at it
All the steps I couldve taken where taken
1)putting barrel bag back on
2)having finger off the trigger
3)only thing I did wrong was not put the safety on but the gun was a high end electronic marker where you have to press like 5 buttons to turn on the safety and at the time we had about 200 people waiting to be chronoed so I didnt bother with the safety

i do understand that he may have overreacted a bit, but i would be kind of agravated if someone shot me while i was standing around. And also, if it would have hit someone in the face it would have been really bad. Just my opinoin..

well srgvgl first I think your manager handled it all wrong. I hate when an employer doesn't side with the competence of the one he employs.
that being said.. Did you really just say "sorry" andgo back to work, cause that doesn't seem very sincere to me.
and third, and your not gonna like it. You made a mistake. Analyze it and see where precautions could have been taken to avoid it hapening again.
"all I did wrong was..." and he was being an a-hole tells me you are focusing in the wrong issues.
the only thing you can change is you so you hafta accept that you messed up. Even if if was no big deal. Even if it was only once. Even if the guy was a pansy...
there. I'm done.

i would have to say if i was standing around and got poped i would be pissed, but then again iam there to shoot or get shot so i would have taken it out on the other team and god help u if u were on the other team. and when you got 100 ppl breathing down ur neck trying to play and talking smack cuz they have to waite in line u tend to cut some corners everbody would. so when i got to the front of the line i would be like remember me the one you shoot hook it up with some extra air or paint. and not take it to the manager

Well as a gunsmith, my first rule is to make sure every gun is unloaded, even paintball guns. If the gun was unloaded, you wouldnt have shot him, even if it was only a paintball gun.

My ole buddy and I once took his French exchange students to play paintball in Tampa. The day started when one of the Frenchies shot someone's new F150. I thought we were going to die!!! The day ended prematurely half an hour later when the Frenchies left 2 brand cases of balls open while when it started to drizzle.

YOu certainly need to learn sme gun saftey... I would have fired you for blatently ignorant andd a huge insurance risk. What if it was a 3 year old out there with mom to watch his paw andd yyou shot the kid in the temporal at said pressure it would have perhaps killedd the childd or hit it in the eye lets say and wham no eye. Lets say it hit an adult in the eye that is not wearing the mask.. I say they end up with some bad damage and a lawsuit to boot.
Commmon sense rules apply such as
Time to revise the basic rules of firearm handling.
1) Handle all firearms as if they were loaded.
2) Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction
I have many different types of handd guns and long arms to paintball guns. I treat them all that way and teach my children to not even point a play gun at someone EVER !!..
I am not saying this to be mean but that is My Opinion of the situtation.
Take a gun saftey course and pay attention. Here is what can happen the next time.

Not to over simplify this, but, you shot a paying consumer and your boss yelled at you. To be honest, this is one of the better outcomes.
