Funny little white bulb things!

Hey, can someone tell me what these little critters are? They're white bulbish shaped things on rock and coral. Growing, and spreading. They come to a little tip at their top.

Sycon sponge / q-tip sponge...
I always called them q-tips because that's what it looked like to me. lol. Apparently other people think the same.
