Funny story

Had to tell it although Im sure this has happened to most people. One of my red-legged hermit crabs took advantage of a large snail that got turned over and tore him or her to sheds. He then decided he wanted tthe snail shell for his own. Well, needless to say, he looks like a retard cause he is a tiny hermit crab in a monstrous snail shell. Everytime I look at him I laugh. I just cant help it. He looks so rediculous.

He will keep it too. I had a dwarf blue do that...he kept the shell too..for a very long time.

I had a hermit to eat a snail last week. The shell is completely cleaned out, but the hermit just left it there. Maybe someday he will change shells.

I had the same thing. I had some red legged hermit crabs and I had thrown some empty shells in the tank. Well this really small one decided to switch homes. He found the biggest shell he could find and called it home. He could barely move it was so big. Looks hysterical. But he still has it.

Well, something similar just happened in my tank...yesterday I had a huge conch and a small hermit...now I have a huge conch shell with little legs poking out. It really is funny watching him hobble around the tank with that thing on his back! I'll see if I can get a picture of him later.
