My clowns host the sand directly in front of the tank by the glass. They wiggle and shimmy their little selves all around in the sand. Then they will scoot back and forth on their bellies in the little valley they have made in the sand. A couple of times when I get up in the morning and the lights are off, I will see them laying together (one on top of the other) completely still in there little sand valley (there are about 3 or 4 sand valleys already
)

Mine follow my finger on the glass wherever I take them - I know they'd love for me to pet them, but I resist them! Big meanie that I am. The male will take mysis shrimp from my fingers tho.

sad news

My crazy clown has died
due to an amonia spike in my tank. I sold his buddy to the LFS and my sixline to a LFS so they dont go to fishy heaven 2....

You guys are talking about clowns hosting weird things....I've been trying to figure out one of my maroon's behavior lately and I think I now have.
She's (I say "she" since it's the bigger of the two in the pair) been taking to hanging out behind where my hob filter sits on the back of my tank (behind the two lips and intake). I couldn't figure out what it was doing...it's not fighting with it's mate, and it comes out to eat and is perfectly normal looking.
After reading this thread it dawned on me that I think it might be hosting that area back there? That's the only thing I can come up with as everything else is completely normal...it just likes hanging out back there....clowns are so odd sometimes (and I'm sure my male is thinking the same thing about his "wife", lol).

I had an ocel that both surfed a PH and hosted it. It was one with a flat top, and he'd just settle down there and watch the world go by.
My saddleback also tries to host a rubber carpet anenome, and my female ocel is checking out the fake BTA as we speak.
I just want to say that putting a 12 gallon nanocube in our office was a fantastic idea. I have a mated pair of ocel in there, and every day they're doing something different.

Ok I'm willing to bite. Anyone have good picture of percs/ocels hosting a BTA? I'll post it on the side of my tank, and see if my clowns figure it out. Like I've said, they've investigated the fake BTA, but no 'hosting' behavior.
