FW Ram Cichlid Question!!!

It is my understanding that Blue Rams like their PH around 5.5 to 6.5. BUT, I also thought that Rams (being Cichlids) liked their water a little brackish. So, I thought adding the recommended amount of FW aquarium salt would be ideal. That however would make the PH go up...probably past 7 ???
So what is the solution here? Should I skip the FW aquarium salt...is FW aquarium salt even the right kind of salt for Cichlids? Are Ram Cichlids different from other Cichlid and don't need brackish water? HELP!!! Thanks.

FW aquarium salt does not make it brackish. SW salt at 1/2 the SW level makes it brackish.
I dont remember the RAM PH requirments I will have to look it up in a minute.
different chiclids require different ph's though
oscars doesnt really matter
angels need 7-7.5
and another need 6.5-7 cant remember which though.
but to raise PH there are several different buffers made for specific tanks like chiclid, goldfish, live bearers, etc.. that create and hold the PH for up to 30 days one that comes to mind is proper PH but the last few times I have used it it clouded the tank for about 3 days.
I will get back to you on the PH though.

General: A peaceful, shy, slow moving cichlid. A small tank with lots of plants, rocks and caves is ideal Keep pH 6.5-7.0 They do well in groups. Adult males are more colorful and have a longer dorsal fin.
Longevity: About 2 years.
Color varieties: Blue Ram, Gold Ram
Diet: They will accept a variety of foods. Feed flakes, Tetra Bits, Frozen foods. Feed 1-3 times a day.
Compatibility: Keep only slow moving peaceful fish with them.

I have a natural FW with wood, plants and caves...so that is covered. I am just worried about adding some level of salt or not? So far I have heard Blue Rams are ok without.

I really wouldnt add any salt. )99% of all rams are already acclimated for just FW tanks not brackish so I wouldnt add it.
