So long as the fish do not look like they are having trouble they should be fine. The milky color will settle out and every thing will go back to normal.

Just outa curiosity, how old is your tank?? I ask because if it's old and you stirred up the sand, would it cause ammonia or nitrates to release into the water?? I have CC, so I don't know but it may be something to test for...
