Garlic?

Yes, there was a very good topic on it a few months ago. The garlic does something (not harmful) to the fish's slime layer that causes the ick to dislike it and fall off. A month later the ick is dead from no host to feed on :). Think I got it covered there.

I had a case of ick in the tank and used the garlic cure.
I soaked some frozen food in the garlic juice for a couple of hours and then feed this to the fish twice a day.
3 days later it was gone and the fish have been doing good every sense.

I get the garlic oil in the gel tabs. I also have been using garlic soaked food once a week for my fish and all my fish are still ick free I use this as a prevention .When a couple of my fish came down with ick I fed it to them twice a day for 3 weeks no more ick and my fish seem a lot healthier too.

I, like angie use the garlic that is in gel tabs and also the kind from the grocery store (McCormic brand). I've had great results. I soak brine once a week as a prevenitive mesure. I would suggest using at first signs of an outbreak(one or two speks on fish) The general concensis (sp) is that it is totally reef safe. I haven't had any problems t all using garlic. If you want more info i would suggest doing a search on "garlic". Also, i suggest using vitamins to soak most of your food in. I have heard and found for myself this to be the best prevenitive mesure in controling ick outbreaks along with low stress in the tank. HTH
