I'm using garlic to try to get rid of the ich (which im told works well). I'm just wondering if the garlic juice will get rid of the ich or just boost the fishes immune system so the fish will live? Thanks for any help.

No Q tank, I just started with this whole fish thing. I only have one damsel remaining, so I do not plan on making one at this time, but thanks.

Yeah, Damsels are the strongest fish you can get, if he has ich, you got probs, check your temp swings, more than 2 deg per 24 hr is too much.... mix garlic with food and also put into water, by the directions, it helped my tang when he was new but I got only .5 temp swings, no ich, knock on wood for 6 months:D

Thanks, I've been mixing it with the food and dropping in small amounts. Hopefully it will go away.

From what I have got from reading posts about garlic and ich, the garlic is used as a preventative measure only, used to boost the immune system so that the fish are less likely to aquire ich. But I'm not saying that I wouldnt try it if I didnt have a qt, like you.
Is there any chance you could set up a qt, that way you can leave your main tank empty and the parasite will die off without any hosts. Then the qt would be already set up for new additions and you should hopefully never encounter it again. ;)
