I didnt say this in the SPS thread, but the yellow fin flasher wrasse in my avatar was actually killed (I believe) by my blue-green chromis. At first I thought he went carpet surfing or overflow diving but I couldnt find him anywhere. So after a few weeks of not seeing him and no ammonia spike, I ordered a filamented flasher wrasse from my LFS. They are very similar to the one I had, and also close to a carpenter's flasher wrasse.
The chromis definitely picks on the new wrasse and his rear fin is slightly damaged. I dont want to get pics of him flashing until his fin heals up. In fact it took a couple days before I saw the wrasse come out from hiding. I have been trying to catch the chromis, but he is too fast for my two nets. Im hoping they eventually get along. but I believe that chromis had something to do with the death of a 6-line wrasse and blackcap basslet.

Here was the yellow fin in his prime (9/17/07):

Very nice! Love the wrasses ~ ordered a trio of the McCosker's Flasher Wrasse for my 65. Hope they arrive by Friday. Have you tried a DIY fish trap? Go a couple days without feeding the chromis, then bait that baby with some pellet food, and I'll bet you have him in no time.

yeah thats my only option at this point. Just have to run by my lfs to borrow their fish trap.
good luck on the mccosker's, they are very pretty fish. definitely post pics when you get them.
i always hate how its difficult to find females because they are not as in demand because they dont have the colors or the fins of the males.

I made my own out of a water bottle. Thanks. I'll post pictures, I was pretty excited to find a trio of one male and two females that had arrived at the sellers all together. Just have to wait for them to get out of QT. Don't know that they'll breed or anything, but I'm hoping having the females will keep the color on the male. I've read that they tend to lose their color over time.
BTW responded to your post in my thread, but just so you know, the plating monti definitely has a pink edge

Well I did lose the filamented flasher wrasse.
The chromis is definitely to blame. So I tried today to catch him after not feeding for 3 days and letting the flakes float on the surface. Came close to getting him with the net, but no luck.
Guess Ill try the 2-litre bottle trick next time.
Also, looks like Ill hold off on a replacement until I get rid of the chromis.
But to "brighten" things up, heres a side tank shot.

Sorry about your lose, the bottle trick is actually real easy ~ I just used a water bottle to catch mine. Cut the top off where it gets wide, invert and insert into the main portion. bait with food and you should have that little sucker in no time ~ with a damsel, I would watch fairly closely and take it out (maybe even cover the end with a net as you do) ASAP, once he's in it.
Saw the picture of the grape, very excited
. PM me your shipping address if you get a chance, and I'll send my frag out on Monday, when I ship the thermos, and some orchids I have to get in the mail. Once you get mine, you should be able to use the same set-up/box to ship back ~ sound good
.

Just updating my thread with my latest addition

I believe its acropora caroliniana, a yellow deepwater acro. In person, its a flourescent green/yellow.
Got it for free after trading in a bunch of xenia for store credit.
