GBTA is growing

I am curious why an anemone splits?
Mine is getting quite large. He gets fed 2 x's per week- 1/4 of a silverside. Is this to much? :notsure:
Thank you

Fishy, a lot of "too much" depends on your lighting. If you have stronger lighting you don't need to feed as often. I feed my GBTA two times per month and it is doing fine but it is kept under a 250 MH.
If your lights aren't as bright you will need to give your anemone the food it needs through more regular feeding.
The good thing about these creatures is if they're not hungry they won't eat.
Also I heard on here silversides aren't the best food for anemones becasue they have to "spit" the bones back out but I've had no trouble feeding mine silversides.
Hope this helps you out a bit.

Hey KO, thanks for the info. It is very helpful. I am new to anemones so it is a learning process. I have him under 3 150w HQI and 4 96W pc's. I assume this is sufficient. He is at the bottom of the tank and the lights are 6 inc about the water.
I did not know about the siversides, that might be why he closes for 1 1/2 days after feeding him. Do you have a recomentdation on what to feed them?

Again thanks for the info.
:joy:

I feed mine once every 10 days. He's huge now. When I got him he was the size of a tennis ball now when fully open around 7-8 inches.
I forgot that I have 4x96 PC's over my 65g. :jumping: :jumping:

Hey Crox, that is great. I will cut down on the feeding a little. I can tell the difference by feeding in his size.

Feeding to often will often make them split much faster.

I received my anemone on 4/11/06. I took this picture about 3 days later.

My clowns made themselves a home 2 days later.
