General Angel questions

Lets say you have Angel A already established in your tank. You then add Angel B which is larger. Is it normal for the bigger to chase the smaller around every few minutes and eventually all will be good after dominance is asserted? Or is this the early signs it will not work?

I would have expected Angel A (established) to be the early aggressor.
If it is the other way around you may have problems to come.
I'd keep a VERY close eye as they may work it out in time, but be ready to seperate.

Keep a close eye on them. It's usually the established fish that's the agressor. My queen angel tortures any new fish I add but it only last a day or two. After that she completely leaves them alone.

Well all the angel is doing is chasing. Not attacking. As soon as the established angel swims away he stops chasing. I dont want to stress out both fish. The chasing will happen every 5 minutes or so. Then Angel B will go back to a cave and hang out. I have left the lights off and it still happened. I even put in Angel B with lights off at night.
What signs should I look for that it just may not work out?

I'd say a good sign is if the chasing keep going on after 2 or 3 days or if there's any actual damage done.

When i first introduced my blueface to the tank he was 5" (2" larger than the emperor) and was very dominant. I was affraid that the emperor would have to be removed.
I let it be and look at them now. My emperor does not let the blueface get away with anything.

I've gone through this a few times too. Assuming they have enough room; most Angels will eventually establish a pecking order and tolerate each other without bloodshed. Occasional squabbles and nips are to be expected, though; but that attitude is a big part of what makes large Angels so interesting....IMO.

Everyone says you can NOT keep two in one tank... I have seen differently... But all in the same.. is it better to put two new angels in a tank at the same time?? I'm thinking about getting an emperor and blue face angel. My tank is 150g btw...
Also are angels really not reef safe?? I don't have any reefs, but am always considering it... actually i have a polyanto that grew on the live rock.. but it came with the rock. haha

If you introduce both as juvis, at the same time, I think there is a good chance it would work. No guarantees. Neither would make a good bet as a reef safe fish. BTW, who is "everybody"? SWF.com strongly advises against multiple Angels and they have to cover their great guarantee when someone puts an adult emperor in with an established Queen Angel. (or many other doomed combinations) But, IMO, if you do your homework, it isn't all that hard.
