its about beer. according to german purity laws beer many only have four ingredients. the Reinheitsgebot ("beer purity law") dating from 1516 (and most recently updated in the Vorläufiges Biergesetz of 1993), according to which the only allowed ingredients of beer are water, hops and barley-malt. no wonder (I prefer micro brews with unique taste) although german beer is quite good it all tastes the same and now we know why.

no way, german ales taste nothing like hepaweissen beers (wheat beers) unless thats a different category all together?

top brewed beers fall into a different category. there are exceptions there under german purity laws.

You can get an infinite number of different types of beer by using only those 4 ingredients. There are hundreds of different types of hops and depending on what you do with the barley you can get anything from a light ale to a stout.
