you should let the feather dusters go where they want. they know better then we do where they would like to be. they move to accomidate the water flow and lighting that they prefer. If you glue them somewhere they could get stressed and toss their crown or possibly even leave their tube and die.

well i don't have a problem with it moving any where. just falling over, i'd like it to be sticking up so it isn't coming out into the sand or a rock

If you superglue and it doesn't like the spot it will just leave it's tube and grow a new one, possibly getting eaten while it's out, try just propping it up with a rock.

thats how i've been doing it. is it a problem if he falls over into the sand? or needs to open laying on its side on a rock? the hermits climb on it and make it fall over. can they move on their own?

Is the tube not staying up on it's own? Mine doesn't really fall over, he's hanging off a rock and pointing up. You can bury the base in the sand but as long as he can extend his feathers you can prop him on a rock too. Mine didn't like the place I put him and built another tube pointing the other direction into more flow. I've also seen hermits climbing on it with no problem.

If you will bury him in the sand at and angle and then place a small rock over the base of where his tail is located, he will dig up through the sand and adhear himself to the underside of the rock. If you ever want to move him...just relocated the rock and he'll stay attached.

Let the poor duster find a spot that he likes! LOL I am not trying to be rude, it is alive. Let it pick it's own spot.

it's not like he's moving and i keep moving him back....... i just want him to be pointing upwards. no one has answered that yet. is it a problem if he is opening up into something like the sand or a rock. the way his tube is shaped is not straight at all and i can't get him to point up without using something to keep him pointing that way. it is really pretty long and curved like two ways. i just wanted to know the safe ways to do that

Wedge him between some rocks and use a rock to support him. Pretty easy.

Ive had luck placing mine where I want them to be and they stay others dont agree with the spot I have choosen and move to where they want. And some I have had in the past leave their tubes for some reason. I agree after you place them in the tank to begin with, let them be and they will go where they are happy. Currently I have 5 and they appear to like where they are.

mine has never moved. i've had him in a few different spots and he has never moved. the tube is about 6 or 7 inches long. and the last half isn't very sturdy. it isn't as easy as you guys are making it sound to just prop him up. i will try wedging him between some rocks. i just wanted to make sure that was ok.
when you talk about them moving. how quickly can they do that i don't even see how they could move

What I did is I dug a small hole whd piled up the excess to make a ramp for him to rest on, this keeps his crown off the sand. then I pushed a little sand over his body to anchor him in place. I don't think it matters if they touch anything with their crown. Also if he does not like it he will move his crown up more, thats what mine did.

I would think that as long as it is actually coming out, even if it is right onto the sand or rock that it is probably OK. If it didnt like the location it was in it either wouldnt come out at all or it would leave it's tube and build another one somewhere else. Pretty sure they can turn themselves within the tube so that it's crown can face a different direction if it needs to.
