Accord---reliability, longevity, and practicality. Just my .02

In terms of reliability and ease of maintenance you cant go wrong with a Honda Accord or Civic. I have a 94 Honda Accord, never a problem not even a flat tire. The list you have is a good one.

If you do an accord, don't do two door if you plan on having a family. My mom has a honda accord 2 door, don't know what year it is, but all I know is that it is not comforatable for 6' guy.

My mom is looking for a new car also, in the 20k$ price range, we just looked at Saturn Arua(?). Looks pretty nice, but she didn't test drive it yet because I wanted to get home to ride my bike LOL.

I like it, mine came with the VTEC motor, it's a 2 door EX. It's reliable and easy to work on not to mention fuel efficient. Sounds like a quiet diesel IMO but makes good power. Honda also makes a good V6 as well, the timing belt replacement can be a PITA to replace. The only thing I didn't care for was from a maintenance standpoint the front breaks. Replacing rotors can take awhile.

-G35, just cause i like the car in general and its never had a bad rap for anything. motortrend car of the year 2003, north american car of the year, C&D 10 best list '03 and '04... also good consumer reviews
-accord, my mom owns one and she and i love it. lots of power, good feel, good honda quality. we have the hybrid and it gets crappy mileage (considering) on the street but does amazing on the highway.
the scion xB is great if you arent trying to impress someone. very economical and holds a lot of people. also good and reliable. small and easy to drive. it is a little skimpy on comfort but you should decide that your self
hope i helped

If price isnt a consideration... G35 I love em.. Im on my 4th Infiniti.. my wife drives the G and I drive the FX..unbelievalble luxury and comfort for the $$. And for all of the above reasons, too. IMO all the japanese cars listed are reliable and a good selection. But there is a huge difference in a Scion and an Infiniti G35. Toyotas are notorius for being expensive but they are good cars.

g35's. dang its barely in my reach. i think i only have enought for a base model. g35 is my second pick now, with the accord 1st. anyone else got anything to say about the new elements sc's or scions?

yeah u helped alot.
im gonna aim for the g35 but use the accord as a fall back. i guess the scion xb isnt for me. ive heard lots of critism from it not for its performance but for its look. wouldnt want to be crusing and some punks yells out "boxcar!"
as for the accord it seems to be the whole package for an average driver. lots of HP for the daily driver. 265hp with v6. in the 20's. sort of luxiourious. g35...accord...g35 accord...
*thinking

If you buy a Scion you have to kick your own ____.. Sorry but rules are rules about these things.
The Elements can be fun, but for milage your really looking back towards something conventional. Accords are great little cars all around.
I agree about the statements of Toyota being very comfy and of higher quality. They do command a higher pricetag than they really should.
What pray tell is this big upcoming event?

Sorry, sometimes I dont think before I respond. You were asking specific questions for specific vehicles.
Definatley go Accord. comparing bang for the buck you can buy a whole lot more accord for your money.

its all good.
i have been driving the 2000 accord sedan model. had some problems during the these 7 almost 8 years watching my mom and bros drive it. alternator malfunctioned, factory tint to dark in front windows got a ticket for that. and recently jus yestarday the EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) broke or something and its at the service center should be ready tommororow. other than that its great. love the accord's vtech. gives it that kick when i need it.
so far im being persuaded to buy the new accord...g35 is still in the back of my mind.

I got my 2004 Toyota Matrix for $17,000 brand new ... so how are they "notorious to be expensive" ? I'd go with a Toyota Matrix instead of a Scion.

honda Element SC
2008 or 2009 accord
2008 Civic Si
S2000
Honda Fit
G35
Toyota Scions : all models.
This is a VERY broad range of cars you have there..An S2000 next to a Honda Fit?? A G35 next to a Honda Element?? Just curious how the list came about?
I have driven most of the cars on the list BTW...IMO, the G is far and away the best car here, if it is in your price range, this is a no brainer....The S2000 is a great sports car as well if you want something that small.
As far as the why...The G has beautifully refined ******** weather it is woodgrain or not. It is rear wheel drive, which to me is far superior feel in driving any preformance car (though only 2 cars on your list are preformance cars). The Dual Overhead Cam V-6 engine in this car is one of the best engines ever made (Motor Trend said this one, not me). It has excellent safety ratings as well.
Once again, just my opinion, but every car on the list except the s2000 and g35 are just boring modes of transportation. The G and the S are fantastic RWD preformance inspired automobiles.

MiniS - best resale value of any car after 5 years, not to mention quick little car. Also, you forgot the VW GTI

To boot the G35X is IMO un stoppable in the snow.. if you live in an area where you get snow.. One of the best features of the car is the available AWD.. A few more features to be very impressed by.. first the VDC.. vehicle dynamic control.. automatically displaces power to each individual wheel as it needs it sort of like limited slip differental but to the 10th power.. it far surpasses that. Around corners it allows the car to hug the road by distributing power to the wheels that need in a % that is required to keep power to the others as well. Along with that you have the EBA... electronic brake assist...speaks for itself... and along with the VDC it also will brake an individual tire that has lost traction to help it from sliding out. IMO one of the best pieces of technology offerd in a mid priced sedan. But all infiniti's awd or rear wheel dr have that feature too..... as far as price goes.. yes they are higher than most on your list but research is key.. and it is a fact.. the last day of the last month will get you an unbelievable deal on a car... and if you can hold out.. go the last day of the year...WOW is all I can say.

Amen Brother (or Sister...whichever)!!!!
I've not seen snow in many years, as such I typically prefer RWD (though when the new EVO comes out next year it is possibly my next car, [AWD or course]).
Thanks for going into more detail!
