Getting my Bf a tank for X-mas

thats a pretty good sized tank. you coudl keep a lot of different types of fish in a tank that size.

wow - that's a pretty kickass xmas gift! I think anything in the 75-125g range is perfect for a starter tank - big enough that you can do a lot with it, small enough so it doesn't take a second

just make sure he's prepared to spend the other couple grand to set up the tank. sure, the tank may be a nice present, but if he can't use it or isn't ready to invest the time and money into a saltwater tank, you're doing him no favors.

i agree 100% with renogaw. if its something he likes and he will be into it, AND has the cash flow to set it up, then great. otherwise, its almost worthless present. unless you are getting him the whole starter package, basically all o rmost of the equipment he will need to start it up. The Tank is just one (cheap) part of the whole operation.

Amen to that sltn00b and renogaw......right now I am piecing some of this stuff together and have NOTHING....ha ha ha ha....lucky for me I also have a fish only tank to admire while my loooooooooooooooooong project is underway....I have a 135 gallon that I am building a little room for so it will look like it is in the wall....the tank and the room are the cheap parts..ha ha ha ha.....Whew...I won't have a wife when I am done...but D**n it if my room won't look nice...LOL

she gonna wonder why in a few months he says....well babe, i cant afford to take you to dinner and a movie, you got me this fish tank and thats where all my money goes now.
