Getting ready to get rid of the tank

Well, after having my tank setup for the past 13 years, I'm getting ready to get rid of it. I have not had any interest in the past couple of years and it has been on autopilot mostly. We are going to install wood floors in our home so I would need to move it. Figured I might as well get rid of it at that time.
I'm wondering what is the best way? Advertise it for sale and let it all go? Sell it by the piece? I have some nice stuff but I don't feel like getting into shipping so I'll probably sell it locally once I figure out the best way.
My biggest concern is my two clams. I have a huge Gold teardrop Maxima and a nice Blue Crocea. I also have 100lb of Fiji rock totally encrusted with ricordia and mushrooms. The ricordia alone would cost you over a grand for the prices they sell it.
Not sure when I'm going to make the move but if anyone is close to Jacksonville Florida and would be interested in anything, PM me and I'll contact you when I decide to sale anything and what I have to sell.

we did our floors and just did a temp move. it wasn't great, but it worked.....maybe you can downsize??? Maybe get rid of the high maintence stuff?? I don't know if I could not see my fishies daily.

Shipping is going to command the highest price. A package deal is going to be the worst for you -- but it's also the easiest.
I just tore down my frag tank and had a super coral blow out sale. I sold 400 bucks in coral in 3 days and then someone was like.. oh I'm looking for a tank like this and cha ching 600 bucks for the tank. So having it set up a year I completely got my money back out of it on that weekend.
The coral was priced cheap (sold 60 pieces probably) and the tank included a really nice ballast and pendant.

Local reef club and the "list of craig" are prolly your best means of reaching people. Word of mouth through a reef club can travel fast especially if you post a feeler thread letting people know what you will be selling.
Hope you stick around SWF and hang out with us.

The high end stuff can probably go on reefcentral and you can get a super price. Hope I don't break the rules there but just trying to help you out.

Definitely not going anywhere. I haven't posted outside of the aquarium but maybe once or twice in years so I still hang around for all the friends I've made.

Craigslist is pretty effective. You may get a couple of loons but if you stipulate cash only and no shipping you should be good.

you did.
In my wheeling and dealing to build one of my tanks. I sold a few of em. But what I found best is posting the whole setup first, and then say in your post will split later if no buyer is found. (because you get all these people wanting you to sell one thing or another then dissapear when you break down) Then if I didn't get any bites in a week or so. I'd sell it piece by piece. (IT sucks, a lot of work) Then as soon as you sell off everything, you'll get a serious buying out of the blue wanting to buy the whole setup...
I'd do it in a few places, Craigslist, the local reef club, and the aforementioned giant forum. At least for the stuff you wanna ship.

Thanks guys. I have a couple of prospects at work. The problem is I have no idea how to price this stuff. Probably won't be for a few weeks. I know I'm going to miss it when it's gone.
