i have a maroon clown , and a coral beauty, they get along perfectly, and one lone convict damsel that has inhabited the tank before anyone, he's fine with the two, but recently i added 5 more blue damsels to my tank, they are causing a mess, they are making everything very aggressive and agitated! the convict damsel chases everything around now, and so are the new ones, thinking i should just get rid of them all now... i am in a tight spot though... i heard the two fish that are currently in the tank (clown+angle) should have been the last fish in the tank.. and i am afraid now any new fish i add will be harassed, i have in mind a yellow or blue tang some sort of manderin or other goby, possibly a fire fish, or some chromies, but even those might be harassed with aggressive fish, although before the addition of the new damsels everyone was fine, and peaceful, i just want a tanbk like that with bright fish! any suggestions on what i should do? (my tank is around 45 gallons) THANK YOU!!

Eliminate the aggressive fish from your tank before adding any firefish. They will get beat down fast. Maroon Clowns are VERY territorial. The Coral Beauty might do just fine after the Damsels are removed.
Ditch the Tang idea. Your tank is too small, and no sense in keeping one for a few months only to stress it out again when you have to re-home it.
Mandarins really need 100lbs+ of live rock to graze on. Most of them don't accept frozen foods so they need a sustainable supply of live pods. If you have a local marine aquarium club you might try to find a member who owns one that eats frozen and try to buy it.

You are in a tight spot were you want to keep them but you want to too. This is were reading first comes in good. I would not do damsels because they are more stress than they are good unless you have an all damselfish tank than they are good. How much rock you got in you tank and what kind of system are you running. I would try to keep the coral because they are really good for color & price. Your Maroon can be mean because you have an anemone with him but if not he is just marking his territory. Hope that helps.

thanks for all you help, my maroon is not very aggressive, he has been a very good addition to the tank since i got him, and the coral beauty is not aggressive either! they are good together, and i am only worried for the next tank mate, they MIGHT be harrassed, new tank mates have not been yet, but we shall see, does anyone (i'm not getting a wrasse, had one and they are terrible for the inverts) know of a good compatable tank mate for the two in a 40 gallon tank with over 30 pounds of live rock, a proteine skimmer and a fuvel 300 pump?

some wrasse will bother inverts but other won't...sixline wrasse or some type of fairy wrasse would be great..

You could get some type of blenny or goby and also try of school of 4-5 Blue/green chromis, most people think they die off till their are no more but my have been doing great for about2 years and they bring the scared fish out and keep the mean ones nicers. Hope that helps.
