getting started with a aggressive set up

hello,
i am just getting back in to this hobby so i will have to ask lots of questions again . is it a good in vestment to buy a protien skimmer when you have a large tank and large fish in it? like say a 110 with an el and trigger? also some one said you can hose a sharkin a 110 tank but for how long? i would / need all the help i can get wiht this.

First, a skimmer would be good. also be sure that you have a good sand bed, and good biological filtration, wet/dry sump or some good bio wheel filters.
No, you cant keep a shark in a 110 gallon tank. it will outgrow your tank in about 6-12 months after hatching. You need a 180 gallon tank for the shark. 110 should be good for a trigger depending on the species. A bersa or huma huma should be good in a 110 for quite sometime HTH

i think you could put a bamboo shark in ther, they only grow 11 inches a year, but just be prepaired to provide a larger aquarium within tha next year or so.

The skimmer is a great idea for any aggressive tank with larger fish, almost a requirement, as they are often messy feeders with a sizeable excrement release as well...what goes in one end comes out the other.
While triggerfish are fantastic animals, I strogly suggest against keeping most species with any of the ambush predators or bottom fish, such as bamboo sharks, rays, eels and lionfish as they are often attacked while laying around, frequently killed outright, depending on the size of the trigger.
Suitable tankmates for triggerfish are larger wrasses, groupers and tangs.

Thank you soo much for all your help.
but i have one person says ok so shark starting out. one saying dont keep it at all and one saying it gets to big.
all i would be keeping is a bambo nothing more one and some other hearty things.
any ideas good wiht that?

Any shark is going to pollute the water quickly. Poor water quality causes stress. Stress causes death.
Go with a larger volume of water plus a skimmer, refuge,uv and ozone. Ooh and a denitrator.
The first statment is fact.... the second determines the first.
