Are they freshwater ghost shrimp the same thing that everyone feeds their marine fish or are there different ones?

it is never good to feed any marine animals any other then things that are, noy frpm a martne enviroment themselves.

when i get them i put them in salt water with no adverse affects.

Yes, they do, but they are eaten long before they die from osmotic shock. If you plan to keep them, to feed to your fish at a later date, then they should be housed in fresh water.

don't mean to steal your thunder, but I am confused, if it is so bad to feed marine fish freshwater fish, why isn't it bad to feed them ghost shrimp?

when we had an aggressive FO tank, we got a small radiata lionfish. my favorite fish ever! he wouldn't eat frozen food so we got freshwater ghostshrimp, the only available live food at the pet stores. the radiata ate ghostshrimp alone for 4+ months until he was larger and started eating other foods.

Nice! I am glad that you weened him onto more nutritious foods
