Glass drilling help needed

I want to get a 15 gallon tank and drill one hole in the end for a drain. This tank will be used as refugium.
I think the store only has glass. I would like acrylic, but we'll see.
Do I need tempered glass or not? Which one has the green tint to it? Does that mean I want green or I don't want green? Where do I get the bits for drilling the glass? Should I get one that goes on my drill or on my dremel tool?
I was thinking a 3/4' PVC would be plenty big enough for this. What size hole do I drill? Can I get the bulkhead at Home Depot? I've never looked for one while there.
What other tips do I need?
Thanks,
Rob

seriously if I were you I would think twice about it, and have it done. Most places charge 20buck a hole and ur gonna spend more than that buying the bit and your time. I would highly suggest if you insist on doing it yourself getting acrlyic tank, much easier to work with.

3/4" bulkhead requires a 1 7/16" hole...not an easy bit to come by...1 1/2" will work though...1" bulkhead needs a 1 3/4" hole...
The glass co by me charges $8-$12 a hole... I had them put 4 in my tank...
This is not ment to "degrade", but if you don't "have" the tool and you don't "know" what tool you need...the chances of having the "skills" and "technique" to use the tool are probably not there either...
Which isn't to say you couldn't "learn"...Just takes "practice"...
You sure you want to "practice" on your tank...?

I did call yesterday and it was about $10 to cut a hole, so I will have it done. They said I needed non-tempered glass. One place I called said most tanks have tempered bottoms and non-tempered sides. Is that the way most small tanks are? Wanted to get the standard one at petsmart, but they say it's tempered. How do I tell the difference when I buy it?

if it is tampered, i have learned that auto glass stores, are very well equiped at drilling tampered galss.. i paid 30 a hole.. but it was well worth it.. yea most likely got riped off but who cares..:D
and if you contact the company that bulit your tank, they should be able to tell you...
