Glass top on tank?

I just purchased this light https://www82.safesecureweb.com/web...ory_Code=COCFLL
I have a 58 gallon Oceanic and I was wondering if I should keep the glass top on the tank or take it off. The light sits on the legs so it is raised about 5 inches of the tank. So what do you think take off the top or leave it on. Will I have problems with moister in the light with the top off?

The link to your light didn’t work for me. I have a PC on legs about 4in above the water line and moisture hasn’t been a problem. Just have to wipe salt off every now and again. I did notice when I removed the glass lid from my tank that the temperature stayed a little lower. On the down side I had a fish jump to his doom.

Most hobbyists remove the glass tops.....better gas exchange...better light penetration....allows for a more stable temp....and if the lights are high enough moisture shouldn't be a major concern.

the only bad thing about a top off is sometimes mine smells. Not bad but just a little and not all the time. Only when I need to top off my tank (the back glass i don't scrape so I'm assuming that's what stinks when the water level is down...)

i leave glass on because it's dry as freakin' hell here. i'd be adding 10gal of water a week on a good week if they were off. on the downside i'm losing a lot of lumens due to the condensation droplets on the underside of the glass top. i don't use the plastic back 2" attachments and that helps a lot with stopping jumpers as well as heat/gas exchange.
the biggest problem i see is reflection and blocked lumens by the condensation on the glass. i probably couldn't keep some of the more light intensive livestock, but getting that much water every week to keep a fill is a problem. doing water changes takes enough stability away from the tank without having to do that. i've thought about a twice a week refill/h20change, but i'm reluctant to put that much more maintenance at this point.
so where i stand really doesn't do all too well for the best reef tank, but i don't have a true reef. they really don't belong in kansas unless you have money to toss, i recognize that and buy only inhabitants that i can support.
