With that being said, based on the AI albums released to date Taylors voice is much better suited for the style of music they release.
Also if Taylor really is your friend you need to tell him to see some Joe Cocker! He was kill with any song by him!!! My husband and I both love listening to him sing - it is very refreshing to have someone so different vocally who also has talent.
I disagree with the statement about Simon being to harsh, I believe in the real world when people dont cut it they need to be told, wether it is in the business world or the entertainment world - it is ok to have a dream but it doesnt mean that dream suits your abilities.
Bo Bice is from Birmingham as well (also Ruben)...never met him though or had the pleasure to see him live. From what I understand about the AI process is that there is some sort of contract signed when entering into the top 12, that gives AI the option of producing the first album by any of the singers... an opt in contract. This is why Bice's first is so horribly "poppy". Admittedly though, I haven't heard any of the other cuts. Kelly Clarkson's first album is markedly different from her new albums, if you've noticed. Sadly I can't see the AI producers giving us a sincere first album with either Taylor or Chris, but especially Chris - his style and taste in music appeals heavily to a certain audience who expect genuine original material out of their rockers. It is sort of a catch 22 for both to be in this contest.
Taylor dated a friend of mine for about 6-7 years (J.C.) and they were actually very very close to getting married before he got on to AI. Kinda sad. Taylor is a good guy, though. He hangs at a local pub around the corner from my house - Open Door Cafe, and plays a the Oasis quite often (his band still does) - though I think those days are over. He is a great performer and musician and completely deserves his success. He does a little bit of Cocker, and all that bluesy rock from the 70s (The Band) that Widespread Panic likes to cover. I think he's trying to distance himself from the Joe Cocker thing because he was becoming to defined by it on AI - he came across as an impersonator, which he is not. It will be interesting to see who wins - all the remaining are very good.
