nice.. the craziest thing I've ever seen with YWGs was a trio (yeah that's right THREE YWGs!!!) that shared a tiger pistol at a LFS here. They were in a 10gallon... REALLY funny. It was a shipping space issue that turned into amusement.

I would have loved to see that. I've been wanting this pair for a while.

I just got my orange spot goby and pistol shrimp. goby is out and about eating great but I cannot find my pistol any more. Last I saw he was on the bottom of my rock and has been MIA for 4 days now.

Here they are. The blur on the right is the pistol shrimp, I haven't seen him anymore but the goby comes out all the time. They are so tiny, just babies.

Hiya,
I got a tiger pistol shrimp and his partner a barber goby a week ago. The shrimp went right to work building a new home within seconds of putting him on a pile of rubble. The barber paired up with him within an hour. I went to bed that night and the silly critter had tunneled under my rockwork and caved it in!!! I was afraid that they'd both got squished. I'm happy to say that last night I saw my barber goby out eatting. I haven't seen the shrimp, but I'm pretty sure that he's still around since I see little puffs of white clouds every once in a while.

what kind of pistol is it? does it matter what kind or is any pistol OK? I want to add a pair, but I will have to have my LFS order what I want. I am not sure what will be available. I am really only familiar with those for sale on this site. Thanks

It is a red banded pistol shrimp. You can google pistol shrimp and it will tell you which ones pair up with gobys, There is one that does not but I dont' remember which one. Make sure you tell them you want a matched pair, not two seperate ones.
Good Luck, Jean

I see that on another site that sells pairs they use the red banded as well. I see this site has caribean and tiger that pair up with gobies. The price difference is nearly double from one to the other, so I was wondering if it made a difference. I do not believe that my LFS gets them paired. He told me that hey will naturally pair up. I will have to do more research. The pair will be the next thing added to my tank. Thanks for your help.

If you get a larger/smaller goby they will pair up and all live as a trio. The larger of the gobies will turn female.
Cool find. I love goby/shrimp pairs.

Great info.! Do you have examples of the different kinds of gobies that will do this. Do they both have to be shrimp gobies? Would a Yellow Watchman and Randalli pair with a Pistol and become a trio?
