i was wondering is it hard to take care of a firefish goby. they look nice and i really want one but i dont know if im ready so i want to know some info about them. i have a 20 gallon tank with a lot of rock work. i currently have 1 domino and 2 yellow damsels cause it was cheap if you bought 3 at a time. so yea they are still alive. all the damsels are still alive and algae is starting to grow on the live rock. so yea thanks in advance

I agree they are hardy if tank is healthy. In a 20g. should take out the damsel. It could pester a goby to where it want eat. The main loses fron gobies is cause they jump out of tanks soon after introduction.

Dogstar is very right they are great jumpers, i lost a purple firefish that way make sure you have a lid, also they prefer to be in pairs but for a purple and two at the same time or you could have trouble with them fighing

ok i got one yesterday and its great. but i only got one causet they didnt only had one. and it was really expensive. so that means i cant get another one now? ok continuing its exploring and everything but today in the morning i saw it just under the the cave like rock just there not moving. i couldnt tell if it was breathing or not cause i couldnt see a thing cause i just woke up. it looked dead but i didnt want to take it out because i had school in like 15 minutes. so after school i got back home as fast as i could and started to look at the goby. i still couldnt tell if it was alive or not. but then my friend came over so he saw that it was breathing so everything was fine. it was confirmed that the fish alive! later on the day it started moving into different spots. right now its in the same spot not really moving. it only moves to change positions to face the other side. i was wondering if you gobies do that? my tank is secure. i have an eclipse top with the built in light and bio wheel. it was a lid but in the back of the lid, there is a hole for wires to go through. the size of the hole is about 2 inches high and 2 inches across. but there are wires to the hole is about 1 1/2 in high. do i need to cover that up too or is that fine? thank you everyone very much for the help.

I have had really good luck with my two purple firefish, they eat everything, formula1 flake, primereef cubes, cyclopeeze, and freeze dried mysis.
