goby going to collapse tank...

Hey,
I have had my cleaner goby for about 2 weeks now,
and i have realized that he does not stop digging under
rocks. This is bad, because he already made a rock shift,
which made one of my corals fall. Now, he is digging under the base of the whole tank..meaning, that if that shifts, my whole rock structure, and coral will collapse. I have already tried to dig it back up several times, and he re-diggs it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Adam

either place your rock on the bottom of the tank and not on top of the sand, or support your rock on top of some pvc piping in the sand. That way he can dig around it but can't dig underneath and undermine your rock.

You will need to do one or the other. Either way you will have to rearrange LR. IMO, (if this is the correct goby I am thinking of), I have read on here that they don't do well in home aquariums, better to have cleaner shrimp instead. Just what I read, no experience.

he is also beneficial for the tank
If he is stirring that much sand, then he is probably killing your sandbed. A little bit of sand turning is good, but I belive these gobies over turn the sand and degrade the de-nitryfying qualities. You have a DSB or SSB right?
If you are worried that a rock will fall and break the tank, then I would get rid of him or at least make sure you can drop your rocks to the tank bottom. People have had this happen, so it is something you will want to deal with right away. Good luck, I've been trying to get a damsel out of my tank for 6 years now.
