Goby is sick

So yesterday I had my favorite fish my bicolor Blenny die on me. Have no clue what happened or why. He was happy and all over the tank on thursday. Friday he was just sitting in the corner breathing hard, then He was dead the next morning.
So know my problem is my dragon goby sand sifter. Showing signs of the same thing. He looks like he is starving or something. He did his job well cleaning up all my algae and now it seems as if he has no more food. I see no signs of ich or anything on him. He just started not sifting sand and hiding in places. it is really thin, and just does not look good. Same route as my Blenny took.
Anyone have any ideas?

I had 2 gold headed sleeper goby's for almost 2yr's then one day they started getting thin and in a period of 2 weeks both died
(also my favorite fish) I took 1 to a friend of mine who is a veterinarian he cut the fish open and looked for parasites what we found was 3 large grains of substrate (about the size of a pinhead) in his digestive system this blockage caused them both to starve.
sand sifting gobys need extremely fine substrate to sift ,my problem started after I added coarser sand to my existing sand bed.
how long have you had these fish?
I know this sounds gross but I always do a exploratory "autopsy" when a fish dies that way I can rule out parasites and any thing internal this way I know if i need to treat my other fish.

Sadly it died about 20 minutes after I posted this. didnt do a autopsy, didnt even think about it. Had him for about 3 weeks. Up until say saturday he was still sifting sand like a champ and seemed fine.
Im actually wondering if my tank is to clean for my algae eaters. Not sure if that is possible or not, but they have kept my tank spotless for the last couple weeks.
