Hello yesterday I went to my Favorite Fish store here in Ma. and I bought a Goby. Yesterday he or she went all over the tank picking up the sand and spitting out the sand making like holes in the sand near the live rock. I haven't seen him or her in a while. Do they come out more when the lights off or what any info would help. I really liked watching him or her...lol:notsure:

I think they need a lot of algae to feed on. They prefer hair algae which none of us want in our tanks. Hope you didn't pay a lot for him. I think they're REAL hard to keep.

I feel your pain. I just got a Hector's goby, and It's only an 1". It comes out a lot, but if I don't see him when I look in I get nervous.

It is because your file is a .BMP you have to switch it to a .JPG

BTW, I have had my rainford goby for over 3 months and he/she is doing fine(no hair alge)...Just feed it microplankton or filter food.

He's out today eating the brown sand. He or she is cool to watch because he or she eats the sand and the it comes out clean from the bottom of him/she.

72gallon every fish eats different things there not expected to. I have a psychedelic mandarin and a hector goby that eat frozen brine like pigs!! A lot of mandarins won't eat brine except on occasion. Mine eats twice a day everyday. I'm glad to hear yours eats plankton though.

My tank is still pretty much new I started it in NOV. so I just started to get some Diatoms(spelling) The goby has cleaned them all out. Very good investment for my tank.

Once you run out of algea you will have to start feeding him, live caulpre, Nori (dries seaweed) you can find this at almost any asia grocery store, or algae sheets or chips, if i were you i would set up a refugium, if you dont already have one and grow feather caulpre or brillo pad, for him to eat befor you run out of algae. or you could buy a hang on the back refugium, any thing that will keep plants out of the main tank, plants can easily take over a tank, thats why you need a refugium.
