Hey? Those two pictures, looks like you are missing two of your original baffles?

Yea he took them out to extend his sand bed when he added new sand. We have better things to do than lie about this trust me. Go pay to have your glass cut if you don't think it will work. Look at mine I don't understand how anybody could have trouble with this ?? I guess you do need a little common sense and dexterity.
Go to the equipment forum on *please do not advertise for other boards its against the forum rules* and tell them that this does not work and see what kind of response you get from the most advanced people in the hobby bar none.
Their gonna laugh at you I guarantee that.Picture of the easy cheap fuge

Two points folks:
1. Do NOT reference or link to other sites/forums/etc. That includes abbreviations, slang, etc. for other sites.
2. I used silicone in my Acrylic Refugium to hold Acrylic baffles. They started popping lose in about three weeks. I ended up having to use the 2 part coral gel (Ya.. that got expensive) to hold baffles in place.

Back to the original question. No, you should not try this at home. There are some people that can shoot rockets out of their butts, but we don't think it works for everyone.

I worked for a glass shop as a teenager (many moons). I cut my own glass, didn't pay anyone, but thanks for the tip.

I think the problem here is that people are using names interchangebly here. Plexiglas, acrylic etc. I myself am not sure which is which, but I do know that I built my sump with what I believe is pexiglass, it may be acrylic, not sure. Come to think of it, it may even be Lexan. My point is that there are numrous plastics out there that everyone is either calling plexiglas or acrylic and they may be calling it by the wrong name. Those who built their sumps with a glass tank and used silicone to hold their baffles, might not know the proper name of the material they used for their baffles, myself included. If Signguy says silicone wont adhere to acrylic, then take him at his word. When buying baffle material, check to make sure the material is something other than acrylic. I dont know if plexiglas is acrylic or if acrylic is lexan or what and neither do 99% of the people here. The main thing is that the baffles can be made of a clear plastic material, then again, they dont have to be clear. One tip though, whichever you use. Cut 1/2" strips of the material as log as your baffle is high. Then adhere them to the walls of your sump. Place them on the opposite side of the water pressure. So if your water is flowing from left to right, then place the supports to the right of the baffle. This gives added support to the baffles and gives a much cleaner look when finished. Some people have globs of silicone along their baffles and it just looks horrible.

SCSInet, I’ve been flyfishing for Brookies in the Cranberry Wilderness the last 5 days and I get to come home to your unfounded accusations. Apparently they have been putting cell phone towers in a 35,000 acre pristine wilderness area? I in no way told anyone to post anything, and I could care less about being right unlike your ignorant declarations. Everything I stated in my post is completely true. At least 5-6 members from this board have seen my system when I gave/sold frags to them and I have absolutely no reason to lie, and even less reason to defend myself from your crap.
SaltFreak, I took out baffles #3 and #4 from right to left, only 6 months or so after I originally constructed my fuge 3 years ago. Once I realized they served absolutely no purpose, other than taking up valuable real estate to otherwise grow Macro’s, they were taken out. BTW, I had to take a razor blade to the silicon to free these two baffles, they would not budge when I tried to pull them. If you look at NWalsh’s fuge, when I helped him make his we only put in three baffles because by then I knew the other two(#3 and #4)) served no purpose at all.
