Gold Stripe Maroons and False Percs!

After setting up a 14g nano and transferring my pair of false percs to the nano, I decided to buy a gold stripe maroon for my main 55 gall display tank. The only problem is he is less then an inch big and im afraid the other fish in the tank might pick at him. My question is would it be ok if I kept all three clown fish together until the maroon got a lilttle bigger and more comfortable?

well right now in my 30 gallon tank i have one gold stripe maroon and two tiny pink skunk clowns and they get along great! but i wouldnt worry about the maroon being eaten when i had a 3.5" yellow tang every once in a while he would try to pick at my 1" maroon but the maroon would dish it right back... i would think he would be fine in the 55 gallon especially if it had an anemone but i dont think it would be too much of problem in the 14 gallon just be sure to monitor that tank for chasing and nipped fins good luck

What other fish do you have in your 55gal? Maroons are the most aggressive clownfish. They can hold their own pretty good. Unless you have something aggressive that would possibly eat it I don't think keeping him in the 55 would be a problem. The only issue that I would have with you putting another clown in a 14 gal is bioload issue. It's a small tank and you already have 2 clowns in there. Not to mention if you leave him in there long term then he will turn into a she and become more aggressive and possibly hurt your other clowns. Oh...just thought about this...the clowns in the nano are probably already paired so they might pick on him a lot in the small tank.

The 55 has the following:
Scooter
Lawnmower
Royal Gramma
2 PJ Cards
Brittle Star
Choco Star
Dollabella SeaHare
Pgynomy Angel
And I think thats it. I think it should be alright until it grows a little bigger, right?

He should be fine. I don't see anything too aggressive in there. In fact, I bet you'll notice he'll be running the tank in no time. If you're thinking about pairing in the future, you might want to do it while he's a juvenile. It's a lot easier that way than to wait til he becomes a she. The females are very territorial over their tank.

It's going to be a while. You have a little GSM right now. My female is around 3 1/2 inches and my male is around 2 inches. They still haven't produced any eggs.

Ok, so I recently had a little hair algae outbreak in the main 55. Ordered a Seahare and Lawnmower to take of it, which they have. Funny thing is the GSM clown has actually begun to host some of the hair algae. Just thought that was funny.

I think that's a bad idea.

As long as the other fish can't swallow him whole he'll be able to defend himself. If that fish encountered YOU in the wild it would probably attack you.

They can host some crazy stuff sometimes. My pair host my bubble coral.
They love it.

im just going to add my 2 cents. I have had a female maroon in my aggressive and i had a smaller male in my 'nano' tank. WELL when i move i had to get rid of the nano tank to upgrade to my 150 and had to put the little male in with my 4 triggers and a few other mean fish. Let me just tell you he puts them in their places. and the female is the meanest fish in the tank. Even when small they can hold their own. I would put him in the larger tank so he doesnt decide to kill the other clowns (cause he will eventually)
