I am thinking about getting a Golden Butterfly, Im researching to see if I can have one....the reason I ask is because I have a Hermitcrab a big one in my tank and I know BF are not reef safe but thats because they could eat shrimp or clams....and plus she would be going in a 29g is that alright or is that too small.....thanks

the fish would be safe with the crab, but i wouldn't put any butterfly in a 29.

Butterflys will also nip at coral...after reading your posts, you need to spend less time looking to buy stuff and more time reading about proper reef husbandry. just about everything you want to do is wrong for a 29 gal tank.

well I did more research last night after I wrote this and read that they are not good to have with coral....and you dont have to be so snappy....I was researching...after all isnt that what these boards are for to "research" and ask questions, and make sure before anything happens....I went to other websites and I always read up on them before I buy them to make sure....but no where did it say about tank size thats why I asked....and so I have came to a conclusion that having one would not be a good idea....

You did your homework and made the right decision. This is a forum; and there are no perfect answers here--just opinions based on research and experience. Keep it up and good luck! (If it makes you feel any better; I'll bet just about everyone in this hobby has wanted fish that were too big for their tank at one time or another. Just wait until you say "tang" lol.)
