Golden Wrasse question

I just bought a golden wrasse from my lfs, and when I introduced him to the tank, by clown decided to harass him a bit. He burrowed into my sand bed, and I haven't seen him in about an hour. Is this normal? I have read they burrow, but this seems like a long time.
Also, I have read they are and are not reef safe. Anybody have any experience with this?
Thanks!

He can stay hidden in the sand for up to two days. It's perfectly normal. As for reef safe, mine has never bothered any coral or inverts at all.

How often do these burrow? I saw him this morning before my lights came on, and now, can't find him again...
He's in a 30 gal tank with an ocellaris clown and a royal gramma.

Whenever they feel threatened and every night.
