One word of advice- Never
trust the LFS.
The reflector does not double the wattage. That's impossible (I wish it was Possible, though). The reflecter reflects more light upon one area. For example, you have a plain flourecent tube over a 10 gallon tank. Over half the bulb is not facing the tank. The lighting put off by those areas, not facing the tank, are not going into the tank. The reflector will reflect those lost areas into the tank, therefore, you would get what you paid for, in a sense :)
