Im a young guy, and want to try and see if i enjoy cigars. I listen to the cigar dave show sundays and want to try it out. Definitely not interested in smoking them very often, just 1 every few weeks as a simple pleasure.
So to all the cigar smokers, what are some good beginners? Nothing so robust that its going to knock me over, but something mild, but not so mild that it just tastes boring.
PS. I dont smoke cigarettes, so dont have that to go off of.

wow that a tough question theres so many kinds of cigars out there. for starters i would suggest any of the:
Macanudo cafe series
H. Upmann Curchills
Romeo y Julieta viejo series
saty away from Punch and Cohiba brands as they are popular but very full flavored. it would probably be easier for you to just got to a cigar shop and ask for some suggestions of mild cigars. dont buy alot either they will go bad if not kept properly so just 1 or 2 to start, the shop should even cut them for you so you dont have to buy a cutter. start off slow and make sure you enjoy it be fore you go buying all the equipment

i planned on buying just one at a time, seeing what i like. Im definitely not going in and buying a box of 25
, about 23 of them would go bad.
There is a shop pretty close to me, ill go check that place out and see if the guy running it can help. I have been checking out prices on line so that someone doesnt try and run the price up on something since im a beginner.
thanks for the suggestions

A really fantastic mild-medium body is the Perdomo Champagne series. Rocky Patel Connecticut and Rocky Patel Vintage 99 is very good as well.
I like a more full bodied smoke most of the time. If you want to try some really good ones you can pick up:
Rocky Patel Vintage 90 or 92
Perdomo Habano
CAO Brazilia

I agree on Macanudos as a great beginner smoke. Also, Romeo y Julietas and Torano Silver Edition are great as well. Also check out NUBS. Specifically the Cameroon for ya!!

I'm a cigar rookie (actually I've smoked them periodically for years but I only have a couple per year). I always smoke the Macanudo Hampton Court. It's pretty light and tastes good. Excellent with a beer or scotch on the rocks.

I dont smoke cigarettes either, but a good cigar is a wonderful thing. There is a major difference between a good and bad cigar. Spend the $ and buy a good one. Hopefully the cuban ban will one day be lifted. Until then, I would try some Macanudos.
Are you close to canada?

i also dont smoke cigarettes, but definitely love the occasionally stoag.
you will quickly find out the difference between junk and the good stuff as you keep trying different brands. macanudos, romeos are light-medium bodied cigars and a good starting point. then maybe you should step into a don diego, ashtons, and then davidoffs, they are really the pinnacle of creamy light cigars and you will pay a premium for them when you can find them. after you have puffed a few, i suggest branching out into medium solid smoked like fuente black ribbons such as the presidente or don carlos #2s

well, got an arturo fuente today. It was one of the shorter ones, bot skinny, just short. I semi-enjoyed it. Im sure it takes some getting used to, but it'll be nice to have one ever once in a while. Tasted alot like coffee.
