Good Beginner Coral?

What would be a good beginner coral for me to get? I have a 29 gallon tank with 2 55w and 2 35w PC lights. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

I think any of the leathers would be a good choice also. Like a finger or toadstool. They can get pretty big and fill out some space in your tank. As for Xenia they are hit or miss. I have had bad experiences with the few xenia frags I have gotten and have read of similar experiences. At the sametime I have read of others who cannot control its growth and label it a weed. Luck of the draw I guess.

I agree with ags. Try some leathers, star polyps, and shrooms for the best bet. I also have heard many people say that they can't stop thier Xenia from growing but I have tried three times with two different types of Xenia and none of them made it while everything else in my tank is thriving. Like ags said, hit or miss, and I keep missing badly:(

I was at the lfs the other day and they told me that leathers weren't hardy and that they are poisonous! Is that not true after all? this leaster was light pink and looked like a branch.

poisonous????? not that I am aware of!!
and they are very hardy as far as corals go.
I have had great luck with my pulsing xenias under my lights!
I guess I had a hit with them.

Leathers can be toxic to other corals but mainly only when injured. They can release a toxin into the tank, for instance, if you cut one in the tank to frag it. They are usually, if not always, non-aggressive though. So they are generally safe to be next to anything else that won't sting THEM. HTH GL

Those are some great pic brian. I think I'll try to find a reasonably priced shroom. What do they usually go for? My LFS is incredably high. I want to compare prices. Thank you so much you have helped me out a great deal.
