Im currently starting to stock my tank with some corals and my calcium has been 340-360 for a while. What is the best way to increase to about 420? Right now its a FOWLR with 2 perc clowns and a yellow tang and 70lbs of LR. The LR has very minimal coralline growth.

I love Kalkwaser. It adds calcium and will keep the Ph up. It needs to be dripped slowly because it has a high ph. I believe the Ph is 14.
With the low calcium try doing a 15% to 20% water change. See if that will fix your calcium.
How big is your tank ?
most important what are your readings ? salinity, temp, Ph, Alk,Nitrate, nitrite, amonia ?

46 gallon tank. I do 10% weekly changes and it hasnt gone higher than 360. parameters are: ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10, ph 8.4, alk 9.0, sg 1.024, temp 79-80

What salt are you using?? Bringing the SG upto 1.025 will help some.
I would use some calcium chloride... something like Kent Turbo Calcium. If you still have problems check your magnesium. Otherwise keep a close eye on the alkalinity while you are bringing the calcium up to make sure they stay somewhat balanced.

I use Red Sea Salt. Ill try bringing the sg up to 1.025. I think i had it there and it still was under 400. I cant remember.
My magnesium is 1320. Which, according to the Salifert test, it should be between 1300 and 1500. Does that Kent stuff have to be dosed?

The best way I have found to use the turbo calcium is you mix 1tsp to 1tbs (until you know what you need) in about 2 cups of RO/DI or distilled water. Let it dissolve and then drip it into the tank.
You could also switch salts to see if you get better results.

Ive read switching salts might create more problems rather than helping. Im going to try the turbo calcium. See if that helps any.

if you think you will use a lot of turbo calcium in days to come... get dowflake ice melt... its the same thing and you can get a 50lb bag for 15 bucks (found in northern states, but you can order it off the internet if you can find it)
i mix it in a gallon of RO/DI water and dose as necessary (this is the same chemical formula as the calcium part of b-ionic)
if you get the dowflake and wanna know more... lemme know.

Dowflake is 77-80% calcium chloride. Peladow is 90% calcium chloride. Both would work.
I personally like oceanic salt but some have problems with it.

i used oceanic exclusively since it came out until a month ago. i was ok with the higher levels of Ca because my system used it really fast. but a month ago i tested a new bucket and the Ca was just outta hand.
so after all of this time defending oceanic i just offer the following..... be careful!
