Good Camera?

The missus pointed out to me that Nikon is having a sale on their cameras when purchased from authorized stores. She showed me a L110 that is $80 off until the first of the year. Is this a good camera? It is absolutely at the top end of what we want to spend. So if there is a better camera for less out there, let me know. It appears to be a good camera and I think it has the ability to add on extra lenses if we so choose. Let me know, thanks.

Looks pretty good, but you cant change the lens on that one. If that is something your are interested in you are better off getting a factory refurbished DSLR from Nikon or Canon

Nikon and Canon DSLR cameras start at $600, and that's just with an 18mm - 55mm lens. I just bought my wife a Canon Rebel T1i with the 18 - 55 and 55 - 200 lens, and I got it on sale for $750. It's the 'middle of the road' version of the Rebel line, but it's considered a 'high end' starter camera. It also does 1080p 30fps video, and even has an HDMI output so you can connect it directly to a HighDef LCD TV.
However, as you stated, these cameras are hitting way over the budget you want to spend on a camera. That being said, looking at the specs on the Nikon 110, it looks like a very good 'DSLR-style' camera. It comes with a built-in 5.0mm - 70mm lens, which is incorporated with Nikon's VR Stabilization (keeps the pictures focused and not blurry when you zoom out). It also does 720p/30fps video. Not a bad camera for $180.

Thanks for pointing out the budget. I dont think you can get a camera with swappable lenses for under $200. The wife and I found it online through upromise so we might be ordering it soon. It depends on how expensive the breaks are on her grooming van. More opinions are welcome on this camera choice. If you like it, say so. If you think there is a better one within the price range, say so.

Canon Rebel XTI here and love it especially with my telephoto lens.
My wife recently got a canon powershot sx130-is for $249 (now they go for under $200) and I have to say that the pics are pretty darn good. Has a decent zoom and takes pretty good videos. No interchangeable lens but she doesn't want anything like that.
I also like to use steves-digicams.com for reviews on cameras. He does in depth reviews and includes pics.
