What's a good, cost effective RO unit?
I'm trying to figure out a good RO unit to purchase. I think this will be better than going to your LFS every time I need water.
Thanks

I have the corallife 50gal. 2 filters 1 membrane and DI unit, it has paid for itself the first year. I replace the prefilters and DI cartridges every six months membrane going on 2 1/2 years still producing 0 TDS water. I also use the water to make coffee it makes great tasting coffee.

I used to use a Typhoon III from Air Water Ice. Very good unit, kept things very clean - and it was under $200. I used my RO water for everything from my tank to cooking with and making coffee and tea. Great investment.

Yeah, I wish I had an RO Unit now, but my landlord doesn't want me to attach a saddle valve under the sink and I have no washer and dryer hookups. Can't drill holes to the outside spigot, so I am stuck having to buy water as long as I live here. I sold my Typhoon III for $35 because I never thought I was going to get into the hobby again. Heh, live and learn.

Thanks Guys! My father in law is a plumber so I'm assuming he'll know how to install it. Is it easy to uninstall and convert everything how it was? We're purchasing a new home next year and would want to take this with me.

Check out the BRS units. They have a few different levels so you can go cheap or expensive. I know the BRS 5 stage plus unit I got from them came with about every hook up connection imaginable (they literally send you 5-7 different connections so you can choose what works for you in your own situation). I used one that simply added into the sink connection under the sink in my basement bathroom (kind of a T connection with push connect fittings.). I could easily remove the fitting and tighten back the hose to the sink!!! Easy as pie!!

I've been very happy with me 5 stage plus BRS system. The only problem was an elbow fitting broke during shipment. I gave them a call, and I had the part I needed a couple days later. They even threw in a couple extras just in case.
And as other people have mentioned it comes with any means of connecting to a water source you'd ever use. So it would be a very good unit to purchase if you're planning to move.
