Hi all,
Came home tonite and per usual I did a quick roll call of tank inhabitants. Still very easy for me to do that since the tank is only 2 months old and I just this past weekend added my first fish (firefish). About a month ago I added my cleanup crew (conches, scarlett reefs, turbos and 2 emerald crabs). Most of the time I have a hard time finding the crabs and tonite for the first time I was able to spot both emeralds at the same time (weeeeee ). Bout a half an hour later I spotted a dead crab in the sandbed-one of my emeralds! But when I looked to where the two were that I spotted earlier, they were both still there!
Upon closer inspection one was decidedly bigger than the other one still alive (who, btw was a dead ringer for the one no longer with us) and apeared to be much hairier.
I know I didn't put him into the tank, and can only assume he hitchhiked on the LR. Question is, is my mystery crab detrimental to the other stuff in the tank? While a featerduster took a hit after the CUC was introduced (since recovered), I haven't seen any evidence that snails, SRHs are being attacked other than the dead crab I found tonite and a SRH I found dead shortly after introduction (at the time I attributed it to not making the trip from FL.)
Anyway, if anyone has the time to checkout thisCrabbbbb Pic and tell me what you think I sure would appreicate it.
