hello all..in the near future i might be helping my girlfriend hop into this hobby. im thinkin of seting her up with a 3 gallon..shes living at my house at the moment so of course id be there to help her out...but im curious as to what fish do well in such a small tank...im thinkin a couple blue legged hermits and a couple small snails...and a sexy shrimp along with sum small corals...which i plan on getting for free from my tank..(after i get my own dang reef going)...but as for fish im stumped..everything i find...even the seemingly smallest of fish say 10gallons minimum....any help appreciated!

dwarf seahorses wouldn't survive in a reef. There really arn't any fish that would live comfortably in such a small enviroment.

if you want to do dwarf seahorses, you could do it in a 3 gallon but water has to be pristine, everything that goes into the tank has to be sterilised one way or another. also you have to hatch and feed everyday. i cant think of any fish that would be happy in a 3 gallon so like the others said its your best bet to get a shrimp or something.
if you are still interested in seahorses heres the link

I've read of a lot of people who keep small gobies - mostly clowns - in thier picos. Google "nano reef" and you might find the site with a dedicated pico forum.

tht is a good idea but honestly why would you want to put a fish in a tank tht small? i think he would go crazy and stress
i would look into a tank tht is 7-10 gallons and put a clown goby in there with some shrimp
then with some corals you woul d make a nice little tank

You can have a nano for her. 3 gallons is a bit too small. Go over to the Nano boards and check out the tanks over there. They know best of what can go in a small environment. I pesonally would not put any fish in a 3 gallon tank. Not even a gold fish. A FW beta yes, other than that....no

I am so verry happy to hear that!!!! I wondered what happened. I hadn't heard from you about that. You seem to be shrinking in tank size! The 3 gallon is way too small if you want her to have fish. Go with a 12 gallon for a tiny starter tank.
