Any reccomendations for a goby that will not get more than 5"? I am looking for one that will do what the sleeper gobies will, sifting the sand through their gills. thanks

Some of the larger watchmen gobies will sift sand.

I think I may give the twin spot a go, I like how its max size is 3-4". Its only a 38 gal, so......

I was thinking more along the lines of total surface area. All they do is eat sand and spit it out. If they're eating the same sand over and over... eventually they're not going to get anything out of it. Know what I mean?

You did say large, not deep my bad. The large sand bed makes sense, definitely will have to consider that. I saw some videos of it digging, like some of the shrimp gobies do, but does it actually sift the sand through its gills like the sleepers?

They're really funny little guys.. they dig up sand and it looks just like a shovel going into the ground and then they spit it out of their gills and repeat that all day long.
