Good return pump?

hey guys finally ordered my 90 RR, tank. What is a good quality return pump for my sump?
Also the guy at the LFS told me that 2 powerheads would be good. I was thinking of getting 2 Koralia 3's. If you want to turn your water over 10 times an hour, then 90 gal times 10 would give you 900 GPH, right? Also, I was going to get 2 smaller heaters instead of one big one, can I put them both in my sump? Thanks guys major help!

u need a impeller pump not a perpeller pump. the koralinas wont work. and the over flow can only flow 600gph i think it is and u dont want alot of flow in ur sump u want everything filtered good if its running 900gph through a 20g sump there isnt realy a point. i like my quiet one pump. a 70gph works cause u loose alot of flow with head loss

My 2 cents, I bought one of the Rio HF pumps i think the 18, but anyways way too LOUD. So I took it back and got smaller but same Rio HF too LOUD. I have the eco pump i think the 633 and it seems to be good so far and quiet. And far as powerheads 2- 3's would be a good normal flow, I know 2 -4's will really be plenty. If you can get a MAG pump for return you will be happy with it, it just hurts to pay over $100 for a pump but worth $30-$40 more.

Heaters can both go in sump.
Mag 9.5 would be my choice for return pump if return line is 4 foot or less
Koralis ok as are modified maxi jets

i agree with Al. i've been shopping around for a return pump and i'm definately going with a mag. i have a 125 so i think i should be okay with a 12.5 but to be safe a 14 is probably what i'll get. you'll be good with a 9.5, depending on how many feet of head pressure it'll be pushing. toss a ball-valve on the return line and you'll be good to go. you could go to the next pump up, but i dont think you'll need to, it all depends on where your sump is in relation to your DT. a few K 3's or 4's will be good for flow, as well. i prefer Koralias over maxi-jets, personally. i think they look better, but that's jmo.

a mag 9.5 might be a bit much depending on your head loss. i have a quiet one pump that is rated at 780 on my 90 gallon rr tank. i have the return line choked back quite a bit. fwiw.

I have had a Mag 9.5 on a 95 wave with single overflow for two years....no ball valve..no problem. However, I do agree that a ball valve on the return is, in general, a great idea if you think that you may be pushing your overflow near it's limit.
